Sharp after a time means exactly at that time. The notice says the meeting starts at 10 sharp, so it begins exactly at 10, not around 10, at 10:30, or after lunch.

Unfortunately introduces something sad or unlucky, and sadly is the closest meaning. Luckily means the opposite, suddenly describes a quick change, and finally describes order, so sadly is correct.

Before the noun student, the sentence needs a compound adjective to describe the student. Hard-working is the correct compound adjective; hard-work and hard worker are noun forms, and hardly work changes the meaning.

Environment usually refers to the natural world around us, including land, water, and air. A building, a school subject, and the internet do not match the everyday meaning used in PET texts.

Take off means remove clothing or shoes, which fits the instruction to remove shoes before entering. Take up means start a hobby, take away means remove to another place, and take after means resemble someone.

Part 1 tests understanding of short real-world signs and notices.

Part 2 works best when you compare every person's needs with each text.

Reading the whole text first helps you understand context before choosing words.

Checking spelling and unanswered questions catches careless mistakes and missed items, so it is the best final step. Leaving immediately wastes time, changing every answer can create errors, and writing notes only on the question paper is not recommended.
